While cleaning the benches, I notice this Euphorbia platyclada has a flower.
Pretty tiny, but I'm really glad I got to see it. A sign that the plant is happy and willing to divert energy to flowering.
My daughter Noe got me interested in succulents in early 2016 and ever since we've been on a quest!!! Naturally with so many new plants around, we needed pots to put all of them into. The typical pots you can buy from the big box stores just don't have character that suits these incredibly interesting plants. So we've both been making our own pottery. And now we're branching out into other plants - Aeroids, Orchids and Citrus!!! Check out what our green thumbs have been doing!!!

Dischidia
Nathan gave me a cutting of a Dischidia from the Philippines. It's got some fat leaves.
Documented here so I can compare growth later.
Wow - six weeks since I last posted... I've been busy switching jobs and working on stuff (that is documented on the other blog). Anyways - I've been in a mode where I'm trying to thin down the extra plants I have, and also cleaning up the benches. I spent a few hours repotting some plants this morning - here are the pictures.
This cluster was repotted from the smaller container on the upper right corner of the picture. I'll keep tabs on how quickly it fills this bigger pot.
Astrophytum definitely needed a bigger pot.
This Submatucana madisoniorium hasn't stopped flowering - I gave it a bigger pot to see if it'll get bigger.
Here's the Astrophytum in it's bigger pot.

Perhaps the Last Batch of Ant Plant Seeds this Year
These plants keep fruiting, but it is October already. We'll see if there are more, or if these are it.
Curly leafed Myrmecodia tuberosa, Myrmephytum selebicum, and the regular Myrmecodia tuberosa fruit (left to right).

Euphorbia platyclada Update September 9, 2018
I recently repotted these plants into slight larger accommodations. I am totally intrigued by the coloration. It seems to be getting stronger with direct sunlight.
Cyphostemma sp Madagascar Seedling Update
Here's an update on the Cyphostemma sp Madagascar seedling. The true leaves are starting to emerge from the central growth point. The cotyledons are now turning green.
I think it is safe to say this plant is doing well.
And here is the parent plant also doing rather nicely.

Ferocactus latispinus
I've been getting pretty picky with plants that I bring home now. After the Hurricane Lane preps and unpreps, I am in a mode of cutting back to the really uncommon or super unusual plants, compact plants, and plants that do not need a tremendous amount of care. This one fits the bill -

Nathan's Myrmephytum selebicum
Nathan loaned this plant to me so I can harvest all the seeds and get some seedlings going. He said it has been pushing fruit every three days or so.
The first fruit he had given me this past Tuesday (CSSH August Meeting) had already germinated when I added the next two fruits (5 days to germinate).
This is a really unusual plant - blue colored flowers!!! I can get most ant plant seeds to germinate, but getting them to grow past the cotylendon stage is definitely challenging.

Stay tuned to see how this goes!
