Recent Repots

Moved for various reasons - mostly "make room for others" and "needed to change the soil anyways". This first one is the Euphorbia ankarensis I picke dup at the plant sale last weekend. I needed to up pot one of the Adeniums to get to this pot (which is probably still a size too large for it).

And I did a similar thing here - Ariocarpus fissuratus transferred to an unused pot to get it in better draining media, and to free up its original pot for an unknown cactus.

This cactus is going to need a lot of rehabilitation. There is really not much vegetative material here... a lot of watering to get it to reinflate and lots of patience.

I'm sure there were more swap outs, but frankly they are all starting to mesh together, and if it hasn't been done yet, it'll probably wait until next year (I gotta start playing in the water again, instead of spending all my time repotting plants - killing mealies should be all that's required for the rest of the year now).

Notocactus scopas murielli

These were for sale today at the plant sale. And here's the one I've been growing for several months.

Plant Sale at VilaVerde

We went up to the North Shore today to check out the Yellin's plant sale. La and the kids could not make it last time I got the opportunity to visit - we definitely made up for it this time!!! I took pictures of individual plants (having seen the garden before) - and La took more pictures of the garden (I'll post some of those when she uploads her pictures). I found some more names for some of my unidentified plants - I'll post those shortly.

Submatucana madisoniorum

I stumbled on an image of this cactus when I was looking for something else (which is pretty much how I've been able to identify most of what I bring home). It is a Submatucana madisoniorum or a Matucana madisoniorum depending on what time you are trying to identify it (it is apparently undergoing reclassification as we speak to the former from the latter). After reading up some more on it's preferred conditions, I'm going to have to drop it down to the lower shelf (it doesn't like intense, direct sunlight).

More Plant Pirate Booty

Noe loves this cactus - it was a hitch hiker on the desert rose plant she picked out. I'll repot the two Pachypodiums tomorrow and post up some pictures of those really UGLY (BEAUTIFUL) plants!!!
