The big Tavaresia is starting the New Year off right!!!

A few new shoots emerging from the central section can be seen as well.  I'm looking forward to seeing this plant continue to grow and develop.

Tavaresia Third Flower

Third consecutive bloom and there is a fourth already forming.

I hope I can keep this plant happy - some of the most interesting flowers and stem body I've run into (in my short time invested in learning about plants).

Long Lasting Flowers

The Tavaresia barklyi flower is finally showing signs of wilting. The edges are starting to dry out.

But it still looks wonderful. It has held up for nearly a whole week. I'll post when it finally does wilt completely.

Tavaresia barklyi Cutting Rooted

I decided to go ahead and repot the Tavaresia barklyi cutting - I didn't like that it was leaning and if I was going to check on what was going on below the soil line, I might as well repot it.

The old cut-line looks clean and there are a lot of roots.

I'm hopeful this plant will send out new shoots.

Tavaresia barklyi Cutting is Showing New Growth

The Tavaresia barklyi I was given at a CSSH meeting by Duc had a section I had to cut out to stop the rot. I dried it out and then planted it. It has stayed pretty much static for a while. I've been watering the cutting and the mother plant lightly when I water the other plants (Wednesdays and Sundays). In the past couple of days I noticed the cutting has leaned over just a bit. Today I went ahead and picked it up and the tip is showing a new growing tip!

Tavaresia barklyi Surgery

I was hoping the bad spot would just stop growing and the plant would push through this. Well - that wasn't this plant's destiny. With that realization sunk in, the only thing left to do was break out the Xacto knife. Now I just have to keep the cut areas dry, wait for them to scab over and hopefully watch the plant recover. I'm a little concerned about the black lines in the section still connected to the base (they aren't in the top section) - I'll be keeping a close eye on that. If it starts to go bad (get worse), I'll cut it off at the base. After the top section calluses off, I'll try potting it up to get a second group growing.
