Kokee Museum

The Kokee Museum has a book of watercolor paintings of native plants. They mounted each plant (and I took a picture of each one so you all can enjoy it). These are out of order - just enjoy them!!!

 

Allerton National Tropical Botanical Garden

We drove past the entrance on the way in to the Spouting Horn - and on the way out we pulled in to the parking lot. Unfortunately the entrance fee is tekai, so we just checked out the entrance grounds and the gift shop.

 

They had a Mark White Lures display (I love these lures)

 

 I really wish we had the time and resources to have walked through - but knowing that we were on the "Garden Isle" and that pretty much the whole island is covered with plants was good enough for us.

 

Hiatus - Now Back

We took a short trip to Kauai. It was a blast and we wish we could have stayed longer, BUT we also wanted to get back to our plants!!! While on Kauai, we saw tons of different plants - the next few posts will try to cover some of what we saw. To start, I did end up with a cutting - this is a Pedilanthus tithymaloides v. cucculata ssp smallii (I had to ask Nathan)

 

I'm hopeful that it'll root and grow up to be as unusual looking (nice way of saying 'ugly' - as far as plants go, the uglier the better is what I say!!!) as the parent plant.
