I may add another set of arms just above the lower pair - primarily to be able to drop another set of stakes to help train the stalks as the grow - but La gave her seal of approval as is.
My daughter Noe got me interested in succulents in early 2016 and ever since we've been on a quest!!! Naturally with so many new plants around, we needed pots to put all of them into. The typical pots you can buy from the big box stores just don't have character that suits these incredibly interesting plants. So we've both been making our own pottery. And now we're branching out into other plants - Aeroids, Orchids and Citrus!!! Check out what our green thumbs have been doing!!!

Dragon Fruit Trellis Completed
I finished two of the three (or maybe four) trellis that will house our Dragon Fruit plants.
Small Batch of Glazing
The kids and I stopped by the ceramics shop this morning to get our last set of stuff glazed up. The glaze firing racks were pretty empty. It'll probably be a couple of weeks before these pieces are all done.
Full, tapered medium pot dipped in Sun Valley
Shallow, full pot - dipped in Opalescent Blue
I'm still missing one pot - good excuse to head back!
New coffee mug!!! The inside is Opalescent Blue and the exterior is Waxy White

Checking Up on Fred
Here's a comparison - the first picture was from 7/24/2017
This picture is from this afternoon - 7/29/17
Kinda looks the same to me - maybe a better frequency would be 2 weeks...
Update - 8/13/17
It's been two weeks, so here is the update picture. It looks greener overall, and there has been a small amount of mass change (increase).
I'll just update this individual post every couple of weeks instead of making a separate post for every new FRED picture.
UPDATE - 9/8/17

Euphorbia submammillaris Budding Accelerating
These pictures were taken this afternoon - four days since the last post on this plant. There is a definite difference.
And actually all three heads have new growth -
This is setting up to be a really cool plant! I'm targeting this to have a vertical orientation with everything growing upwards - but knowing what it looked like when I first brought it home, we'll see what happens!
Dragon Fruit Trellis
I'm finally getting off my arse to build a couple of proper trellis for our quickly growing Hylocereus (dragon fruit). I cut up all the wood today (and for a few hydrofoils I'll be building for surfing - but that's stuff for the other blog).
Above is the trellis - below is the hydrofoil stock
Oddly enough they don't look like they are destined for different purposes...
Funny How Things Work... Euphorbia opuntioides
The previous post I wrote something to the effect of "it will take longer for the cutting to develop a bulbous root..." as justification for purchasing a new Euphorbia opuntioides grown from seed. Well, on a periodic patrol for mealie bugs, guess what I saw popping out by the base of the first Euphorbia opuntioides plant...
Yup - that's another shoot coming up which means this plant is developing a central growth. This plant either got really motivated by the arrival of the smaller one, or it sensed my thoughts and is now doing this to spite me. I'm glad either way -

Euphorbia opuntioides
And here is the last one in this batch - Euphorbia opuntioides. Yeah I already have one, but as a cutting, I think it is going to take much longer to develop a thickened root. Starting with a seed grown specimen will reduce the time frame.
I was struggling to find a plant that matched this pot - the search is over. If things go well with this plant, I'll likely have to repot it in 6 months or so - but for now this is a very pleasing arrangement.
Euphorbia platyclada
This is a really ugly plant!!! I love it!!!
No - its not dead - it just looks like it
The literature on the web is conflicting on this regarding growth rate. Some sources say it is a fast grower, others say slow. But they converge on the lighting requirement - bright shade. Water in the growing season (May to September).
I'll grow them out in these 2" pots for a while. Ugly plants rule!!!
Euphorbia stellata
I got a few new plants - the next few posts will focus on them. This one is stunning!!! A Euphorbia stellata!
Small root structure for such a large pachycaul stem
The leaves have an awesome pattern on them - I hope the sun it'll get in my yard won't change the pattern too much.
I decided to give this plant a pot with some room to grow. I'll like not repot it for a couple of years.
Awesome plant!!!

Fred 7/24/2017
It is really hard to discern growth on this plant. I'll try and keep it in the same position and take pictures to compare differences over time.

Hydnophytum papuanum Seeds Germinating
These took four days to germinate instead of two like the Hydnophytum formicarum. But all six have germinated.
I may use one of these and grow it vertically on one of the ant plant mounts I recently made.
